Ahiman Louis Miner (
September 23 ,1804 -July 19 ,1886 ) was a U.S. Representative fromVermont .Born in
Middletown, Vermont , Miner attended the common schools andCastleton Academy .He studied law in Poultney and Rutland, Vermont.He was admitted to the bar in 1832 and practiced in Wallingford 1833-1836.He moved toManchester, Vermont , in 1835 and continued the practice of law.He served as clerk of the State house of representatives in 1836-1838.He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1838, 1839, 1846, 1853, 1861 and 1865-1868.He served in the State senate in 1840. State's attorney for Bennington County in 1843 and 1844. Register of probate for seven years.He served as judge of probate 1846-1849.He was in theJustice of the Peace 1846-1886.Miner was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress (
March 4 ,1851 -March 3 ,1853 ).He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1852.He resumed the practice of law.He died inManchester, Vermont ,July 19 ,1886 .He was interred in Dellwood Cemetery.ource
