George Wilson (basketball center)

George "Jiff" Wilson (born May 9, 1942 in Meridian, Mississippi) is a retired American professional basketball player.

A 6'8" (2.03 m), 225 lb (102 kg) center, Wilson starred at Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he won state championships in 1958 and 1960. After playing collegiately at the University of Cincinnati, he won a gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Wilson was then drafted by the Cincinnati Royals with their territorial selection in the 1964 NBA Draft. He played seven seasons in the NBA with the Royals, the Chicago Bulls, the Seattle SuperSonics (acquired via expansion draft prior to the 1967-68 season), the Phoenix Suns (acquired via the expansion draft prior to the 1968-69 season), the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Buffalo Braves (acquired via expansion draft prior to the 1970-71 season), averaging 5.4 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game in his career.
