KKCM's format history includes Alternative as KTOW, which later flipped to
Urban Contemporary in the early 1990s as "Mix 102.3" giving Tulsa its first Urban station on the FM dial at the time since KKUL-103.3 (NowClassic rock KJSR ) left the air in the mid- to late-1970s. KTOW was sold in the mid-1990s to Bill Payne and the format was changed toClassic Country as KTFX basically taking the intellectual property of the KTFX call letters and Country format formally at 103.3 which was owned by Payne, who sold the station toCox Radio . Cox Radio purchased KTFX-102.3 from Payne and changed the format to Rock as KRTQ "Rock 102.3" to compete against heritage RockerKMOD . In 2005 KRTQ dropped its Rock format and changed to its current formatContemporary Christian as KKCM, competing against heritage Contemporary Christian stationKXOJ-FM .Airstaff
