The 82nd Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry, known as the "2nd Hecker Regiment," was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

The 82nd Illinois Infantry was organized at Springfield, Illinois and mustered into Federal service on October 23, 1862.

The regiment was mustered out on June 16, 1865.

Total strength and casualties

The regiment suffered 4 officers and 98 enlistedmen who were killed in action or who died of their wounds and 60 enlistedmen who died of disease, for a total of 162 fatalities.
