Conference North side Hyde United, having formerly played for them in the 1980's.Waywell had been manager at Leigh RMI since taking over in 1995 when the club were relegated to the UniBond League Division One North. He took them up to the
Unibond Premier in 1997, and into the Conference, (Now known as the Blue Square Premier) in 2000.He was appointed manager of
Hyde United in December 2002, but Hyde were relegated that season, as the club began rebuilding after a couple of poor years. He took them up toConference North after winning back to back titles in the UniBond League Division One North and UniBond League Premier Division. His assistant manager at Hyde was Tony Ellis until the summer of 2007 when he joined Rochdale in a coaching capacity. He has been replaced by fans favourite 'Super' Neil Tolson who scored well over 50 goals in 3 seasons.
