Hoodstock

Hoodstock is an annual community event in Tempe, Arizona, begun in 2004. The brainchild of Moira Hyde, this block party takes place in the neighborhood or the "Hood" (as called by many of the younger residents) behind Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic parish. Hoodstock's main attraction is the live music of variety of local artists, among whom some are have international reputation, including Matt Maher and Dreamstate. Other events include a bike parade, sidewalk art, lip sync, and a dessert contest.

At any given time during Hoodstock there is a crowd of at least two hundred neighbors and friends enjoying good company and the music. Children of all ages run are found running around while munching on hamburgers and hotdogs fresh off the grill or sweet treats of snow cones and cotton candy. Many of the participants but not not all are members of the City of the Lord Catholic community.

Hoodstock is held every year on Memorial Day.
