- Wagaman Reference Lines
The term Wagaman Reference Lines was first used by
Texas A&M University Graduate Student John Wagaman when describing the lines on aboxplot that often appear at the end of the whiskers, on the opposite end of the box. The Wagaman Reference Lines, when they appear, run perpendicular to the whiskers and parallel to the lines marking the first, second and thirdquartiles . The Wagaman Reference Lines (and the ends of the whiskers) mark theminimum andmaximum values of a dataset, when there are nooutliers . When a dataset contains outlying observations, the Wagaman Reference Lines usually mark the smallest and/or largest observations that are not considered outliers.
