"It Never Rains in Southern California", written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood, is the title of a song first released by singer/songwriter Albert Hammond in 1972. Hammond's version became a hit worldwide, peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 that year.

The song concerns the struggles of a singer who moves out to California to pursue a career in Hollywood but does not have any success and deteriorates in the process. In the chorus, Hammond sings, "It never rains in California, but girl don't they warn ya. It pours, man it pours."

*Sonny and Cher recorded the song on their final studio album "Mama Was a Rock and Roll Singer Papa Used to Write All Her Songs",released in 1973.
*A cover was released by country music group Trent Summar & The New Row Mob in 2000, peaking at #74 on the U.S. Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts.
*It was also recorded by Barry Manilow on the 2007 album "Barry Manilow: The Greatest Songs of the Seventies".
