Game of "S.K.A.T.E."

The Game of Skate is a skateboarding game using rules based upon the H.O.R.S.E. game played by basketball players. S.K.A.T.E. was first played in the 1970’s by vertical skateboarders Lance Mountain, Neil Blender and John Lucero, and was then adopted by street skaters in the 1980s. In 2003 the éS Game of SKATE Tournament was formed, making it the first organized tournament for S.K.A.T.E. The tournament has both professional and amateur divisions. Rules of the game

The rules are basic. One player sets a trick by doing a particular trick of their choice (First try). Once a trick has been set, the other player(s) must respond by attempting to match the trick by doing the same trick in their first try. No trick may be set more than once.

If the player(s) is unsuccessful, then they will receive a letter. For each unsuccessful match, the player receives an "S", "K", "A", "T" or "E" (Depending on how many tricks they fail to land). Once a player receives an "E", they lose the game.

If a player that is setting the current trick fails to land the trick, they don't receive a letter, instead play passes around to the person who has been determined to set next.

The last man standing is declared the winner & if they themselves did not receive a letter, then they are said to have "Whitewashed" their opponent. In whitewashing their apponent they are said to have played a "flawless" game.

When "Skater B" does not have the opportunity to set a single trick & does not match a single trick, "Skater A" is said to have committed a Perfect Whitewash (or "5 Trick Annihilation"). [ [http://esgameofskate.com/about/rules Rules « About « éS Game of SKATE ] ]

Online game of SKATE

The rules for an online game of skate (As played on this site [ [http://www.skaterscafe.com/ Skaters' Cafe Forum ] ] and other skateboarding forums) are similar to the standard game, barring a few necessary rule changes:

*1. Video cameras must be used as proof of doing a trick.

*2. The deadline is considerably lengthened to a few days.

*3. The trick may be attempted as many times as you like (until the deadline).

tandard conventions

Standard games of skate allow flip tricks collie variations & aerial spins (or any combinations of the two) to be performed. Therefore, grab tricks (Tailgates & Airwaves) are not allowed, nor are grinds, lipsticks, boneshakers, cavemen, wallpapers etc. Doing a number of tricks using manuals is not allowed and flip to grabs, finger flips & any grabs where the board also flips are generally considered cheating in a game of skate.

Technical flatground skateboarding tricks are allowed as long as both the skateboarder and the skateboard do not make contact with the ground in any way while the skateboarder is performing the trick. Other rules

If you land a trick and fall off immediately, it is deemed to be a bailed trick and you will receive a letter. The time limit generally lasts for about 3 seconds. Tricks must be performed whilst in motion. Landing a trick and then stopping directly afterward may or may not be considered a bail, depending on the leniency of your judge. Also, dragging part of your foot on the floor or scrapping may also be deemed a bail depending on the leniency of your judge. The skater is not allowed to do any trick that involves touching the ground with feet, hands or face.

Team S.K.A.T.E.

This is when there is one team of skaters competes against another team of skeeters. One person from one team will set then after that person falls on one of their tricks then a person from a different team goes. Once someone on a team has set, when it is that team's turn again a different person on that team must set. Also, instead of individual people getting letters, the whole team gets letters.
