Originally founded asLos Hooligans Productions , its releases include "Once Upon A Time In Mexico ", the "Spy Kids " trilogy and "Sin City". Rodriguez plays a large role in the day-to-day operations of theAustin, Texas -based company. Robert Mueller Municipal Airport in Austin, utilizing several former aircraft hangars and offices. There is a large green screen stage as well as smaller practical sets. The facility also houses production offices, construction shops and other functions vital to the production of a feature film. Troublemaker Digital, Rodriguez's visual effects company, is housed at the facility as well.A second facility, Troublemaker Sound, is located in the hill country outside of Austin. Los Hooligans Productions was the original name of the production company founded by
Robert Rodriguez andElizabeth Avellan in 1991. The name was borrowed from Rodriguez's owncomic strip "Los Hooligans" which he illustrated for three years while at The University of Texas at Austin. When it was time to come up with a name for a production company, Rodriguez decided to use the name of his popular strip so fans would recognize it.The studio was responsible for the release of "
