USS Edith M. III (No. 196), a motor boat, was built by V. J. Osborn, Croton-on-the-Hudson, New York, in 1909; purchased by the Navy in June 1917; and commissioned on 5 November 1917, Boatswain A. R. Mulkins, USNRF, in command.
Assigned to 3rd Naval District
She was assigned to the 3rd Naval District where she passed World War I carrying men and provisions around New York Harbor.
Post War Decommissioning
Decommissioned on 8 May 1919, "Edith M. III" was sold on 2 July 1919.
