Poisar River is a river in Mumbai, India. It begins in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and empties into the Marve Creek and finally into the Arabian Sea. The river is nothing more than a mere stream when it begins and is contaminated with industrial effluents and sewage. There was a time when the water was clean and the people used to use it for household purposes. In Mumbai, during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, the statue of the Lord Ganpati (Hindu Religion) , was drowned in this river too. Nowadays, it is not done, since the river is dirty. At Poisar bridge, under which this flows, there is a building 'Pra-Mira Apts' over looking this river. 'Sai Haven ' is another building on the banks. Recently, more high rise buildings have come up. In 2006 during the major flood in Mumbai, Poisar river had flooded and water had overflown the banks into the building compound, contaminating the Water Tank. Those living in the surroundings had undergone great distress. Diseases spread. Some are still recovering the same. Especially skin rashes.

There is also the Jeri Meri Temple, on the other side of the Bridge. [ [http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Mumbai/MMRDA_studying_5_rivers/articleshow/msid-1240005,curpg-2.cms MMRDA studying 5 rivers] ]
