- Flavivirus DB element
Flavivirus DB elements are found in the
3' UTR of the viralgenome . There are two DB elements called DB1 and DB2 which found adjacent and are thought to be required for efficienttranslation . [cite journal | last = Chiu | first = WW | coauthors = Kinney RM, Dreher TW | year = 2005 | title = Control of translation by the 5'- and 3'-terminal regions of the dengue virus genome | journal = J Virol | volume = 79 | pages = 8303–8315 | pmid = 15956576 | doi = 10.1128/JVI.79.13.8303-8315.2005] Deletion of DB1 had a small but significant reduction in translation and DB2 deletion had little effect, but deleting both DB1 and DB2 reduced translation efficiency to 25%. The secondary structure is composed of three helices.References
