John Read is a British
television producer ,cinematographer and director.Born on
June 7 ,1923 in Purley,Surrey ,England , Read initially worked at theBBC as a producer for the Talks Department and ascreenwriter for the Film Department. He directed the 1962 BBC documentary "An Act of Faith", narrated byLeo Genn , on the destruction and rebuilding ofCoventry Cathedral .He is widely associated with the productions of
Gerry Anderson . After serving as director of photography on "Four Feather Falls ", "Crossroads to Crime ", "Supercar", "Stingray" and "Thunderbirds", Read worked on the latter show's second season, "Thunderbirds are GO " and "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons " as associate producer. He returned to cinematography for the film "Doppelgänger".Read's other credits include the 1954 film "
Passenger to Tokyo " and the 1970s television series "The Adventures of Rupert Bear " (cinematographer), as well as the programmes "Cloppa Castle " and "The Munch Bunch" (producer). He is also known for producing and directing the "Here Comes Mumfie " series in 1975.External links
