Galway South is a former parliamentary
constituency inIreland , which was represented inDáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish parliament orOireachtas . Covering the northern part ofCounty Galway , it existed from 1948–1961. The constituency was created in 1948, under the
Electoral (Amendment) Act 1947 , for the 1948 general election to Dáil Éireann. It was abolished under theElectoral (Amendment) Act 1961 , when it was partially replaced by the new constituency of Galway East.ee also
