Adam Jason Archuleta (born November 27, 1977 in city-state|Rock Springs|Wyoming) is an American football linebacker and safety who is a free agent in the National Football League. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams 20th overall in the 2001 NFL Draft. He played college football at Arizona State.

Archuleta has also played for the Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears and the Oakland Raiders.

Early years

Archuleta attended Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona and was a letterman in football. In football, he was a two-time first team All-Central Region honoree and a two-time All-State Honorable Mention honoree. He was a walk-on at Arizona State University where he played linebacker. Archuleta was converted to strong safety for the NFL.

Professional career

t. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams drafted Archuleta as the 20th overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent his first five years in St. Louis, where he excelled in Lovie Smith's Cover 2 base defense.

Washington Redskins

After the 2005 season ended, he was one of the most sought after free agent safeties. The Redskins made him the highest paid safety in the history of the NFL. On December 28, 2006, Archuleta expressed his displeasure with the way the Redskins were using him, and the lack of communication from the coaching staff.

Chicago Bears

On March 20, 2007, the Redskins ultimately traded him to the Chicago Bears for their sixth round draft pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Archuleta was reunited with Lovie Smith, but never lived up to the expectations the team had for him during the 2007 NFL season. Oakland Raiders

On August 11, 2008, the Oakland Raiders signed Archuleta with the intention of moving him to linebacker.On August 30, 2008, the Oakland Raiders released him in final roster cuts, to comply with the NFL mandated 53 man roster requirement.

He is well known for his workouts and his particular method of lifting weights. He uses a method of lifting developed by Jay Schroeder, the founder of Evo-Sport.
