William Patrick Hughes (born June 2, 1947 in Everett, Massachusetts) was an American football linebacker who played ten seasons in the National Football League for the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints. He played college football at Boston University. Hughes was an outstanding high school athlete and was drafted by the New York Mets. He originally signed to attend Ohio State but instead was pushed to West Point. In order to gain entrance in to West Point he was sent to Valley Forge Military Academy.
