Surrey Docks Stadium

Surrey Docks Stadium

The Surrey Docks Stadium in Rotherhithe, South East London, is the traditional home of Fisher Athletic F.C.. The club are currently playing at Champion Hill, home of local rivals Dulwich Hamlet.

Nestling beneath the shadow of Canary Wharf, it is located in the heart of South London’s affluent Docklands area, just down the road from the Surrey Quays shopping mall and a short distance from Millwall’s New Den Stadium in nearby Bermondsey. In fact, on match days when The Lions are at home, the chants from down the road are said to clearly pervade the atmosphere at Fisher’s home. (1)

The club had plans to redevelop the ground to bring it up to Football League standards by the start of the 2009/10 season. In November 2007 the club announced that it would prefer to move to a new 10,000 seat stadium on the site of the athletics track in Southwark Park, [http://www.fisherathletic.co.uk/news_detail.php?ID=146] , but the rebuilding of Surrey Docks Stadium remains a possibility.
