Peter John Lawrence

Dr Peter John Lawrence (born 25 February 1986) was the youngest person in the history of the University of Manchester to be awarded a PhD after his research on the non specific volcanic prediction methods. After completing his thesis in just two years, he was awarded his PhD at the age of 20. The research that Dr. Lawrence has created has led to discoveries in improving volcanic hazards, with particular successes in South America.

Educational History

At the age of 10, Peter John Lawrence became a member of MENSA and home schooled. By 13 he had taken 5 GCSE in Math, Double Science and English and went on to take A-Levels in one year. He then went on the complete his Masters in Geology by the age of 18 and went straight onto the PhD.

Personal life

Dr Lawrence is currently on sabbatical studying the extinct volcanic system in New Zealand. In his personal life, Dr Lawrence is soon to be wed with his partner John and enjoys a light drink at the weekend.
