The Institute's governance is, as a pontifical school, largely made up of Roman Catholic hierarchy. The Grand Chancellor is the
Cardinal Vicar of theDiocese of Rome, currentlyAgostino Cardinal Vallini . The Vice-Chancellor of each session is theordinary of the diocese in which it is located. The first two presidents of the Institute,Carlo Caffarra andAngelo Scola , were later made cardinals.
