Andrew Van Buren

Andrew Van Buren is a British performer who specialises in magic, large scale illusions, juggling & plate spinning.

Biography

Andrew Van Buren spent his childhood touring the world with his parents Van Buren & Greta’s magic & illusion show. He learned his trade in theatres & circus, on-stage, off-stage & backstage. During this time he teamed up with a Hungarian State Circus artiste who taught him the art of trick cycling, which paved the way to his becoming expert in unicycling, juggling & porcelain plate spinning.

Venues

Van Buren and his team have performed before the stars at the Brit Awards in the London Arena and members of the British Royal family at World Expo in Seville, Spain. He has regularly performed with & made appear, disappear & float in mid air the cast of "Coronation Street", comedian Peter Kay and Lulu (singer). Working in British venues including The Royal Albert Hall in London, Wembley Arena. Regularly performing on international cruise ships & presenting shows in the United Arab Emirates.

Illusion spectaculars

Andrew Van Buren presented his acclaimed large scale illusion spectacular Van Buren's Abracadabra Magic Around The World in Blackpool Tower Circus during the 2007 season supported by a cast of 24 international performers & numerous unique large scale illusions themed to a journey around the world.

Affiliations

Van Buren is a member of the showbusiness organisation The Grand Order of Water Rats and a Gold Star member of The Inner Magic Circle.

He is renowned for performing large scale illusions, from making cars appear to motorbikes disappear, often whilst completely surrounded by the audience.

Television appearances

Van Buren appeared as the plate spinner, illusionist & guest on many television programmes, shows & the opening scene of the Music video Charlotte Church's song "Call My Name". Other appearances include repeated appearances on Cilla Black's "Moment of Truth". Ant & Dec's "Saturday Night Takeaway" with Jeremy Beadle. Jim Davidson's "The Generation Game". Noel Edmonds' "Telly Years" memorably teaching Paul Ross, Marty Wilde, Henry Cooper (Boxer) & Noel Edmonds how to spin plates (or more in their case how to smash them). CBBC’s children's variety show "The Slammer" and "Best of Friends". "The Des O'Connor Show" and several times on "The Money Programme". He also appeared providing the opening credits & various links repeatedly on the series "Spin Cities" with international DJ Judge Jules.
