Joe C. Meriweather (born
October 26 ,1953 inPhenix City, Alabama ) is an American former professionalbasketball player.A 6'10" center from
Southern Illinois University , Meriweather played ten seasons (1975-1985) in theNBA as a member of theHouston Rockets ,Atlanta Hawks , New Orleans Jazz,New York Knicks , andKansas City Kings . He earned NBA All-Rookie honors in his first season, during which he averaged 10.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. Over the course of his career, Meriweather averaged 8.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.
