He was born in Diakopto in the northeastern part of the Achaea prefecture in 1912. He studied in Athens at the dramatic school of the national theatre. For the first time, his emphasis in the stage in which he did roles of the knight of King Lear. At the national theatre he remained until 1941. For 46 years, he played in the largest theatrical company in that time. His first movie was in 1947 in Paidia tis Athinas («Παιδιά της Αθήνας = The Children of Athens), he even played in over 136 movies including Enas ippotis gia tin Vasoula (Ένας ιππότης για την Βασούλα = One Knight For Vasoula), I vila ton orgion (Η βίλα των οργίων), Fouskothalassies (Φουσκοθαλασσιές), O Kyrios Pterarchos (Ο Κύριος Πτέραρχος), etc. His final movie was Taxidi sta Kythira (Ταξίδι στα Κύθηρα = Journey Into Kythira). He even played in television as the role of Barba Giorgos (Uncle George) in Louna Park (Λούνα-Παρκ = Amusement Park), he was one of the popular comedians, kind-hearted and caring in the world. He was lonely in his final years and he died on April 17, 1984, he died four days before.
In his fame, the municipality of Diakopto made his location in the town's beach. Papagiannopoulos made many benefits, mainly in his birthplace, without it, he wouldn't become famous.
