(2005)"Ride the Wings of Pestilence" is the first single from
From First to Last 's debut album "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count ".Music Video
The music video for the song takes place in a Mexican setting. It features the band playing in a desert like setting that appears to be a part of a settlement. The video's main character is a man who at the opening wakes up sweating and then wanders around the town, occasionaly meeting the unfriendly gaze of its other inhabitants. Amongst these scenes are several short shots of a woman dressed in white, swinging violently in a church (the footage is run backwards), or (blurred) walking through empty streets and forming crucifix shapes with her body. The man makes his way to a church and attempts to confess his sins (it is made apparent that he has murdered this woman, by shots of the woman being submerged in blood) unsuccessfully. The man then collapses in the street after seeing what he thinks is the woman he has killed, but it is then revealed that it is the Day of the Dead and a large parade head to a cemetery, carrying a crucifix with a doll of the lady nailed to it, to have a night festival. The video ends with the man in his bed, as he was at the beginning of the video, when a pool of blood seeps from his nose and into his mattress. He has been killed by either his guilt or the woman's spirit.
The song itself, in its lyrics employs many murder film cliches, such as a corpse buried in walls and floor, stabbing through the heart, dreaming of the person's corpse, dressing in the victims skin and a narcissistic vision that the victims friends will prefer the skin wearing killer to the living victim.
In the clip the band are seen to be using
Mesa Boogie guitar and bass cabinets in conjunction with oneOrange amplifier head and oneBogner . The guitars appear to be ESP made apart from oneGibson . No bass amplifier is visible.CD Single
