This is a list of the mammal species recorded in the United States. There are 424 mammal species in the
United States , of which 3 are critically endangered, 15 are endangered, 23 are vulnerable, and 2 are near-threatened.3 of the species listed for the United States are extinct and 1 can no longer be found in the wild. [This list is derived from theIUCN Red List which lists species of mammals and includes those mammals that have recently been classified as extinct (since 1500 AD).
