Irving Grundman is a former
General manager of theMontreal Canadiens . He is also a former Montreal city councillor.He is founder and president of Laurentian Lanes. The company owns bowling alleys in Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston.
Irving has three kids: Howard, Gary and Pamela
Hockey career
Irving Grundman served as GM of the Canadiens from 1978 to 1983. He became GM after
Sam Pollock retired. He won 2Stanley Cup s in 1978 and 1979. He was responsible for drafting future NHL stars such asGuy Carbonneau andChris Chelios . He was replaced as GM bySerge Savard in 1983.Political career
After his hockey career ended he became a Montreal city councillor. In September 2004 he along with another Montreal city councillor René Dussault pleaded guilty to 1 count of municipal corruption. The scandal involved a bribe over the rezoning of a piece of land formerly occupied by a church in the Montreal borough of St-Laurent. The pair accepted $75,000 from an undercover Quebec provincial police officer in 2002. Grundman must serve 23 months in the community for his part in accepting a bribe to change a Montreal zoning bylaw. Grundman was also given a $50,000 fine.
