TheMalaysia Network Information Centre (MYNIC) is currently the registry and registrar for the domain, in charge of registration, billing, system administration, and policies and operation of the domain. Domain naming convention
Registrations of .my domains are at the third-level under second-level names and, more recently, second-level domains. Therefore, .my domains are usually structured as exemplified below:
*
www.example.my
,
*www.example.edu.my
, or
*example-name.net.my
Previously, MYNIC only registered third level domain names. As such, MYNIC didn't register .my domains names such as:
*
www.example.com.my
*example.example2.com.my
*example.my
But this no longer appears to be the case. Previous exemptions in the third restriction were the official websites of
MIMOS ( [http://www.mimos.my mimos.my] ) andJaring ( [http://www.jaring.my jaring.my] ) (a former subsidiary of MIMOS).econd-level domains
*
.com .my, for commercial organisations or activities.
*.net .my, for network-related organisations or activities.
*.org .my, for organisations or activities that do not fall under other categories.
*.gov .my, for Malaysian government organisations only.
*.edu .my, for Malaysian educational organisations only.
*.mil .my, for Malaysian military organisations only.
*.name .my, for Malaysian individuals' personal use only. The .name.my subdomain is specifically reserved for personal domains of individuals, and registrations in all other subdomains are restricted to companies and organisations.
