Jaap ter Linden (born
April 10 1947 ,Rotterdam ) is a Dutch cellist,viol player and conductor. He specialises in performance of baroque and classical music onauthentic instruments .He began his career as principal cellist of notable
baroque orchestra s includingMusica Antiqua Köln ,The English Concert andAmsterdam Baroque Orchestra . He co-founded the ensemble Musica da Camera and in 2000, founded the Mozart Akademie inAmsterdam , an orchestra specialising in the classical repertoire, which he conducts, and with which he has recorded the completeMozart symphonies. He has guest-conducted both modern and period instrument orchestras including theDeutsche Kammerphilharmonie ,Portland Baroque Orchestra ,European Union Baroque Orchestra , andPhilharmonia Baroque Orchestra . He has also conductedopera , includingHenry Purcell ’s "King Arthur" andChristoph Willibald Gluck ’s "Iphigénie en Aulide ". He performs chamber music with pianistRonald Brautigam , violinistsElizabeth Wallfisch ,Andrew Manze and John Holloway and harpsichordistsRichard Egarr andLars Ulrik Mortensen . He has recordedBach 's suites for solo cello twice. With Egarr he has recorded Bach's sonatas forviola da gamba andharpsichord , and with Egarr and Manze, Bach's violin sonatas. With Mortensen and Holloway, he has recordedDieterich Buxtehude 's complete chamber music, and withTon Koopman ,Pieter Hellendaal 's cello sonatas.He teaches at the
Royal Conservatory of The Hague , at theAmsterdam Conservatory and at theHochschule für Alte Musik inWürzburg .External links
