- Pymmes Brook
Pymmes Brook is located in
North London and named after William Pymme a local land owner. It is a minor tributary of the River Lee. The brook mostly flows through urban areas and is particularly prone to flooding in its lower reaches. To alleviate the problem the brook has beenculvert ed in many areas.Course
The brook rises in
Hadley Wood and flows south and west to enter theRiver Lee Navigation atTottenham . It passes throughEast Barnet ,New Southgate ,Arnos Grove ,Palmers Green and Edmonton after flowing through Pymmes Park the brook can be seen at Fore Street, Edmonton before flowing underground and to emerge south of theNorth Circular Road atAngel Road where it is joined bySalmons Brook . The brook now enclosed in a concreteconduit flowing parallel with the River Lee Navigation till merging with the Lee below Ferry Lane A503 atTottenham Lock .Parks

Walking
The
Pymmes Brook Trail follows the approximate course of the brook fromMonken Hadley Common toLee Valley Leisure Complex in Edmonton or alternatively to theRiver Lee Navigation at Pickett's Lock, Edmonton where the path joins theLea Valley Walk .History
During the Middle Ages, it was known as the "Medesenge", in the late 1600's as "Millicents brook" then, by the late 1700's as "Bell brook".
