Vinayan is noted for the films "Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum pinne Njanum", "Karumadikkuttan", "Oomappenninu Uriyadaapayyan", "Dada Saheb", "Vellinakshthram", [ [http://www.hindu.com/mp/2004/01/05/stories/2004010500970300.htm The Hindu : A thriller in the making ] ] "Akasaganga" and "Sipayi Lahala". He has directed both comedy and serious films. Vinayan has also directed fantasy films for children. "Albhuthadweep", which tells the story of an island where all the men are short and women normal, and "Athisayan", which deals with the story of an extraordinary child, fall in this category. Albhuthadweep is expected to be remade in Hollywood by Ron Howard.
