footnotes = Symons Valley is the overall name given to an urban development residential neighbourhood in the north-west quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It borders the northern city limits, and is bounded by Stoney Trail to the south, by Sarcee Trail to the west and by Symons Valley Road to the east. There are currently 3 communities either planned or under construction: Kincora, Sherwood, and an area currently dubbed Symons Valley which will include the proposed Sage Hill business hub.

Additional Unique Feature of Area

Symons Valley is also the name of a rustic, cowboy-themed "ranch" in the area. Started in 1968, Symons Valley Ranch now includes a BBQ restaurant, campground with RV hookups, and rodeo arena. The facility is often rented to community groups. One of the most unusual events at Symons Valley Ranch is the Canadian Rockies International Rodeo, Canada's only gay & lesbian rodeo. This annual event is hosted by ARGRA, the Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association, and attracts some 4,000 participants from the Calgary region and across North America. The rodeo is a member of the International Gay Rodeo Association, IGRA.
