"Peggy's Fan Fair" is the 84th episode in the Fox animated
situation comedy series King of the Hill and was the fourth season finale.

Plot

Soon after Peggy Hill receives a standard rejection letter from Randy Travis' law firm turning down her unsolicited submission of an original country song, the Arlen Methodist Church announces a bus trip to Fan Fair in Nashville, Tennessee. Peggy's unilateral assumption of leadership of the church trip, including stops at tourist traps, non-stop commentary and travel games during the trip, and name-dropping, alienates associate pastor Larry Rayburn (voiced by Vince Gill).

Once at Fan Fair, Peggy and Hank are standing in line waiting for Randy Travis' autograph when Peggy hears the song she submitted, "That's Just The Way God Made Me." Enraged that he has stolen her song, Peggy punches Travis, who later claims that he had written the song and that songwriters sometimes write similar songs. She insists that it is her song, and relates her childhood experiences at being teased for her large feet, and her grandmother's encouragement to respond to the teasing by saying, "That's the way God made me."

Meanwhile, Luanne and Bobby meet with country legends Brooks & Dunn, and they take time to give Bobby love advice over Kahn's interference in his relationship with Connie.

That evening Travis sings the song, and introduces it with Peggy's story as if it had happened to him. This further enrages Peggy who is determined to exact revenge on Travis. With Dale's encouragement, she and Dale enlist Boomhauer and Bill to toilet paper Randy Travis' tour bus. Bill accidentally knocks the bus off its blocks and it slides into a lake with Travis inside. Hank rushes in and saves Travis.

Bobby brings Brooks & Dunn one of Peggy's brown betty desserts as thanks, but accidentally drops it in a pile of manure from John Michael Montgomery's horse. After Brooks refuses to share it with Dunn, he becomes violently ill. Peggy attempts to bring Randy Travis the other brown betty, unaware of Brooks' condition, and the police believe she's deranged and trying to poison him. Hank finally decides to trust Peggy, and eats the dessert to prove that it's harmless.

That evening Randy Travis begins his concert by claiming to have saved Hank's life. During the song, it becomes evident that the song was in fact written by Peggy as it mentions running gags in the series involving Peggy, including her size 16 feet and her prowess at Boggle. Hank sighs and agrees that it's his turn to punch Travis now.

Quotes

*Peggy: Hank doesn't want me anywhere near that concert. He said I'll probably take a swing at Faith Hill for stealing our last name.

*Kix Brooks: Hey, cowboy. Who's this pretty filly? Your wife?: [He and Dunn laugh] :Luanne: We're not married; we're just sharing a tent. And we're cousins.: [Brooks and Dunn exchange glances]
