Guaranteed Music Variety (GMV) is the slogan and on-air
brand of several radio stations owned byMidwest Communications in the Midwest with a variation on theadult hits format.Overview
The GMV format was launched in early 2006 on
KDAL-FM inDuluth, Minnesota by VP of scrwey formats Jeff McCarthy. The format has since spread throughout the Midwest on several Midwest Communications owned stations.In
February 2006 ,WZBY in Green Bay debuted as "99.7 The Bay". Since WZBY's previous rhythmic format shared much of the music withsister station WOFM inWausau, Wisconsin , which overlaps the Green Bay market.In
March 2006 , WOFM-FM Wausau and its translator flipped to the GMV format as "94.7 The Peak". At this time, WOFM was once again sharing music with WZBY.Later in 2006,
WIZD inRudolph, Wisconsin begansimulcast ing with WOFM again under the name "The Valley". WIZD had previously simulcasted oldies stationWOFM from the 1990s until 2005 when WOFM flipped to rhythmic.Since this time, the format has been spreading to other radio stations that are owned by Midwest Communications.
In
June 2008 , the first GMV stationKDAL-FM inDuluth, Minnesota was flipped to an Adult Album Alternative format. At the end of the month WOFM-FM Wausau andWIZD inRudolph, Wisconsin tweaked their format to 70's-80'sclassic hits as "The Valley's Greatest Hits 94.7-99.9."Presentation
GMV stations are primarily automated with occasional voicetracked DJs identifying the station and the songs previously played.
