Service Publications Ltd.

Service Publications Ltd. was set up in 1947 by Peter Edward Martell. His wife, Ruby Evelyn Ryder, is a relation of Samuel Ryder the donor of the world's most prestigious golfing championship The Ryder Cup and co-founder of the seed company Heath and Heather.

It was known throughout the United Kingdom for its ubiquitous town maps and free church diaries. Service Publications ceased its map business in 2005 due to increasing pressures from internet mapping services such as MapQuest and in-car navigation (pioneered, ironically, by a distant relative).

Today, the company is devoted to church and [http://company-diaries.com/ company diaries] .

The company remains a family firm and is jointly owned and operated by the second and third generation of Martells.
