Verona Area High School is a high school located in Verona, Wisconsin in the United States. It has a student population of 1500 students. It is a member of the Big 8 Conference. It moved from the Badger South Conference starting in the 2008-09 school year. Their original school nickname was the Verona Indians, but in 1991 was changed to Verona Wildcats.

Mission Statement: The Verona Area School District, a community of learners, values and supports educational excellence. To foster the joy of learning and to prepare students for future challenges, we set rigorous academic and creative expectations for each student. Students, in turn, must show they meet these expectations.

Academics

Accredited by the North Central Association, VAHS offers a comprehensive curriculum with offerings for a diverse group of students. The VAHS core curriculum in grades 9-11 does not track students by ability; instead advanced opportunities are offered within the curriculum of the course. Consequently, VAHS courses do not carry designations such as “Honors” in their title. Grade 9-10 students in core classes are taught in teams of English/Social Studies and Math/Science instructors. Students in the 11th and 12th grades have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement courses in English Language, English Literature, European History, World History, Chemistry, Statistics, Psychology, Calculus AB, and Calculus BC. These courses carry AP designations in their titles.

Athletics

Verona currently has 22 athletics programs. Each program consists of a varsity team, junior varsity team and in some programs multiple freshman teams. Verona has a coaching staff consisting of 65 coaches. A physical examination and insurance information are needed to participate in any of these activities along with an entry fee, which varies depending on the number of sports participated by an individual and how many family members involved.

Newly added WDT (Wildcat Dance Team) put together in the summer of 2007 by a student that attends VAHS.
