The attack was carried out by the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina after Yugoslav People's Army captured President Izetbegović at Sarajevo airport the day before.
Controversy
According to witnesses Fact|date=June 2007, the Green Beret and Patriotic League paramilitary groups participated in the attack, as well as other armed groups. Allegedly, 42 JNA members were killed, 73 wounded and 215 were taken prisoner. The prisoners were abused and mistreated in captivity, both physically and psychologically, and many were killed.Fact|date=August 2007 There is still no court validation about the event and casualties. Police of Republika Srpska initially accused Bosnian Army general Jovan Divjak of war crimes on soldiers in the column, but dropped the case for lack of evidence.
