Yongkang (zh-cp|c=永康|p=Yǒngkāng), the biggest city in Tainan County, lies in the southern west of Taiwan. Due to the development of manufacturing and food-processing industries, Yongkang has become a migrant city since 1970s, attracting many people from neighboring cities working & living here. Its population had experienced a big increase during 1970s and became the biggest town in Tainan county in 1977. Though the increase of population is not as rapid as then, it still enjoys the steady growth envied by other cities or towns. Yongkang also served as a traffic hub, having Number 1 Freeway and the Western Line Railroad run through it. It is home to several colleges, including Tainan University of Technology, Kunsan Technology and Nantai Technology.
