poetry anthology edited byBrian Gardner , and first published in 1964. It was a significant revisiting of the tradition of thewar poet , writing in English, though by no means the only such collection; and was backed up by strong biographical research on the poets included. Those were mainly British and Irish combattants ofWorld War I ; but there are alsoAustralia n, Canadian and Americans poets.
