Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Takoma Park, Maryland. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington.The school finished renovation in 2007 and is currently educating its third class of students for 2012.This school is one of the many schools in the Cristo Rey Network which are found nationwide. The current president is Fr. Steve Shafran. The current principal is Fr. John Serio. Alicia Bondanella is the Executive Director of the Corporate Work Study Program. The students work one day a week (Tues-Fri) plus one Monday per month. The jobs that the students are employed help pay for the bulk of the tuition.

Background

Cristo Rey HS opened in August, 2007 and will graduate its first class in 2011. It is part of the Cristo Rey Network of high schools, the original being Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago.

Book about the Cristo Rey Model

In January 2008, Loyola Press will release a book titled More than A Dream: How One School's Vision is Changing the World (More than a Dream official site). The book, authored by G.R. Kearney, a writer and former volunteer teacher at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago, documents the unlikely development of the Cristo Rey model and its success throughout the United States.
