Little Theatre Off Broadway

Little Theatre Off Broadway

Little Theatre Off Broadway will be entering into its 49th Season in 2007. LTOB (as it is called) is located at 3981 Broadway, in the heart of downtown Grove City, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. The theatre was originally built in 1916 as a silent movie theatre and then in approximately 1959/1960 became a church before becoming a community theatre in 1968. The theatre was gutted by a fire in 1978 and rebuilt. In 2002 the theatre went dark for five months and was gutted once more so a new stage could be built with two new dressing rooms underneath it.

Little Theatre Off Broadway is a member of Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA) and participates yearly in their annual competition and is also a member of American Association of Community Theatres (AACT) and participates in their biennial conference. LTOB performs six shows per season; two musicals, two comedies and two dramas. Our auditions are open to the public.

LTOB offers children’s theatre classes taught by Joy Schmitt. Joy’s classes produce two shows annually and are performed, costumed and produced by the children from the classes.

In Deember 2007, LTOB announced the creation of a Vocal Repertoire group. The group is being formed to serve as “Ambassadors” for LTOB in the coming 50th Anniversary year of the theatre. The repertoire of the group will be themed around Musical Theatre, with special emphasis on shows from LTOB’s history, as well as Broadway standards, and popular songs from major shows. Solos and Choral works will be included. The group will represent LTOB at functions around Central Ohio, including performances at the Columbus Arts Festival, and Grove City’s Arts in the Alley, among others. David M. Collins has been named as the inaugural Director for the group.
