2005 Fed Cup Europe/Africa Zone

The Europe/Africa Zone was one of three zones of regional Fed Cup competition in 2005.

Group I

All matches played in Antalya, Turkey from 20 to 23 April.

Pool A

* 0 - 3 BUL
* 0 - 3 HUN
* 1 - 2 BUL
* 0 - 3 RSA
* 0 - 3 BUL
* RSA 2 - 1 HUN

Pool D

* BLR 2 - 1 ISR
* 0 - 3 UKR
* 0 - 3 ISR
* BLR 2 - 1 UKR
* 0 - 3 ISR
* 0 - 3 BLR

Promotion Playoff

* 1 - 2 ROM
* FIN 2 - 1 GEO

Romania and Finland promoted to Group I in 2007.

Relegation Playoff

* 0 - 2 LTU
* 0 - 2 IRL

Norway and Tunisia relegated to Group III in 2007.

Group III

All matches played in Antalya, Turkey in the week commencing 25 April.

Pool A

* 0 - 3 EGY
* TUR 3 - 0 MLT
* TUR 2 - 1 EGY

Pool D

* MDA 3 - 0 KEN
* 1 - 2 POR
* 0 - 3 POR

Promotion Playoff

* 1 - 2 ALG
* POR 2 - 1 BIH

Algeria and Portugal promoted to Group II in 2006.

Remaining Teams

The teams placed second and third in each of the above groups all did not have to play a promotion or relegation playoff. Instead each nation played one extra match against another team that ended in the same position to determine somewhat in which place they ended.

This resulted in following final positions for the Europe/Africa Zone Group III:
*Tied for first: ALG and POR
*Tied for 3rd: BIH and TUR

*Tied for 9th: KEN and MLT
*Tied for 11th: CYP and ISL
