Hertta Kuusinen

Hertta Kuusinen

Hertta Kuusinen (February 14 1904 – March 18 1974) was a Finnish socialist politician. She was the daughter of Finnish communist leader Otto Ville Kuusinen.

Hertta Kuusinen moved to the Soviet Union after her father, but she returned to Finland in 1934 with the goal of starting a communist revolution. Instead she ended up in prison for over ten years. The political climate in Finland changed after World War II and Kuusinen was elected to the Eduskunta as a member of the communist Finnish People's Democratic League (SKDL), in the first post-war elections in 1945. She was a member of Parliament until 1971.
