Programs
Lebanon High School has been known to have a positively rated music program. The school has various programs involving theatre, music and other arts.----
Lebanon High School's cross town rival, The Cedar Crest Falcons, has been known to "dominate" them in all areas of athletics. Lebanon athletes have been known to "tremble in fear" before taking the field against the Falcons. Many residents of Lebanon have grown to accept that Cedar Crest is the better school, in sports, and academics.
Dress Code
As of January 2008, the school enforced a strict dress including the prohibition of jeans, profane language on clothing, and spiked jewelry. Though there were rumors of protest from several parents of students, who said they could not afford to buy clothing acceptable of the new dress code, no serious protest was taken. The dress code received generally positive reviews after being enforced. There was speculation that the dress code was enforced to improve the image LHS had compared to other schools.
Criticisms
Lebanon High School has been criticized for incidents taking place at the school involving bullying, harassment, and violence. While LHS rival school, Cedar Crest High School, has been known to have substance abuse problems, LHS has been known to have problems involving the protection of student's safety. There have been a few times in the past where law enforcement had to come into the school and arrest students. LHS has also had an increase in emergency codes over the last seven years.
Lebanon School District was the only district in the county that failed to meet goals set by the federal government last year, according from the state Department of Education. This is the sixth year the school district has failed to meet its objectives as of 2008. Lebanon High School, being the primary educational facility of the district, failed to meet nine of its educational objectives for the 2007-2008 school year. The superintendent of the Lebanon School district has stated that the Lebanon High School along with the rest of the district has failed to meet the No child Left Behind Act standards, due to low test scores. The Superintendent also stated the Lebanon High School is the only school in the district that has "not" increased their test scores.(Source: Lebanon Daily News)
