The Electric Playground

"The Electric Playground" is a TV show focused on video games. It is written and directed by Victor Lucas and Glen Lougheed, produced by Greedy Productions (Lucas' production company). The show first aired in September 1997 and the 17th season was completed in December 2007; [ [http://elecplay.com/holiday_2.php Electric Playground ] ] as of July 30 2008, the show has been on the air for over 12 years. The show features previews of upcoming video games, video game industry news, and interviews with celebrity gamers and people in the video game industry; as well as segments that look at the latest toys, comics, and gadgets. The show use to feature video game reviews, strategies, and hints. The cast and correspondents include Lucas, Tommy Tallarico, Julie Stoffer, Jade Raymond, Geoff Keighley, and Donna Mei-Ling Park. Aaron Boulding and Jose "Fubar" Sanchez have also appeared as correspondents.

The show had previously been aired in Canada on Space, Razer, A Channel, and OMNI.1, and in the United States on The Science Channel.

A website launched to promote the show became its own self-contained entity featuring exclusive content only available on the website.

In 2002, the reviews segment of the show, "Reviews on the Run", was spun off into its own show. It was known as "Judgment Day" in the United States and "Reviews on the Run" in Canada. The final airing of "Judgment Day" on G4 was in early January 2006.

On December 31, 2006, Lucas announced on the "The Electric Playground" forums that Greedy Productions had cancelled its contract with CHUM television, which broadcast "Electric Playground" and "Reviews on the Run" on SPACE and A-Channel, and signed a two year exclusive deal with Rogers Communications, to broadcast the shows on G4techTV Canada and then additionally on other Rogers owned TV stations. On December 15 2007, "The Electric Playground" premiered on Citytv Toronto and Citytv Vancouver, airing episodes that have aired on G4techTV Canada.

On July 30 2008, Lucas announced on official "The Electric Playground" website that "The Electric Playground" will begin expanding with a daily entertainment news magazine called "EP Daily", premiering on August 18 2008; a wrap up show called "EP Canada" will premiere in fall 2008 which will profile Canadians in the gaming, technology and entertainment industries.cite web |url=http://bb.elecplay.com/viewtopic.php?p=145706 |title=EP Daily!!!
