Wilson was 28 years old, and a private in the 2nd Battalion,
The Highland Light Infantry ,British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.On
14 September ,1914 nearVerneuil ,France , Private Wilson went with a rifleman to try to locate a machine-gun which was holding up the advance of the 2nd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. When the rifleman was killed, Private Wilson went on alone and, when he reached his target shot six of the enemy, bayoneted the officer and then captured the gun.The medal
