- Eberhard Kolb
Professor Eberhard Kolb (born 1933) is one of Germany's foremost authorities on German history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
BIO
Eberhard Kolb had studied at the universities of Tübingen and Bonn, and attained a doctorate 1960 at the University of Goettingen over the topic of the worker advice in the German home policy.
He wrote his Habilitation 1969 and one year later became a professor at the University of Würzburg for modern history. Kolb has ever since then been a professor at the University of Cologne. In 1981 he spent a year as a visiting professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Professor Kolb has published outstanding books on Imperial Germany, Weimar Germany, and the
Third Reich , and his learned summary of research on TheWeimar Republic is mandatory reading for all students of modern German history. Since its publication in 1984, it has been frequently revised and reissued, and was translated into English in 1988.Historical Scientific Work
Belsen Mountain
The concentration camp at Belsen mountain takes a key role in Kolb's work. Already in the year 1959 he was participant of the first study trip of the national center of Lower Saxony for political education to Israel. In the year 1960 he compiles the first official Belsen mountain exhibition initiated by the country Lower Saxony. Kolb sits since 1998 continuously as a member in the scientific adviser of the petrol of Bismarck donation.
