African American businessperson and formerminor league baseball player. He is CEO and President ofRS Information Systems (RSIS), aninformation technology contractor, a company he co-founded in 1992.On
March 22 ,2005 , Rodney Hunt was named the 2005Minority Small Business Champion of the Year byU.S. Small Business Administration ’s Washington Metropolitan Area District.Life
When he graduated from high school, Hunt had the chance to play minor league baseball, but his parents really wanted him to go to college. He double majored in
Operations Research andIndustrial Engineering atCornell University . After graduation Rodney decided to play minor league baseball for theWashington Black Sox . During that time he also worked as an engineer. After four years of baseball he tore hisrotator cuff which ended his career in baseball. He then became a full time businessman. Hunt became a senior associate forBooz Allen Hamilton , a large government contractor, and then co-founded RSIS with business partnerScott Amery .Over 60% of RSIS employees are women or minorities. RSIS is the 15th largest African American service company in the United States. RSIS generated $327,000 in profits in its first year of business. By 2005 when Hunt was recognized the company had made more than $365 million.
