Benjamin Wilson (cricketer)

Benjamin Birdsall Wilson was a first class cricketer who played 185 games for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1906 and 1914. A right handed batsman he scored 8,053 runs at 27.20 with a best of 208 against Sussex CCC, one of 4 tons he made against the county. He scored 14 centuries in all, 35 fifties and took 53 catches in the field. He took 2 first class wickets at 139 each. He also played for Yorkshire Second XI from 1902 to 1911 and H Hayley's XI in 1906. He was born on December 11, 1879 in Scarborough, Yorkshire and died on September 14, 1957 in Harrogate. His son, Ben Wilson, played one match for Warwickshire CCC.
