Future Kings of Spain is an Irish rock band, from Dublin.

Future Kings Of Spain on 28 September 2007 released their highly anticipated sophomore album "Nervousystem" . Recorded in London and Malta with highly credited producer Ian Grimble (Manic Street Preachers, The Fall), it was released in Ireland on the bands own label “What’s The Kim?” and entered the Irish charts at number 18. Guess Again, the first single, was released on May 4th, and was chosen by public vote on [http://www.phantom.ie/ Phantom 105.2] On the week of its release it was chosen as the song of the week on Irish radio station Today FM and was number seven in the irish airplay charts. The second single, Kick In The Teeth, was released on July 27th.

“Nervousystem” follows their self titled debut which was released in Ireland, Japan, Australia and the UK through Independent UK Label Red Flag Records. Selling over 42,000 copied, it included singles and live anthems "Venetian Blinds", "Hanging Around" and "Face I Know" (Debuting #9 UK Rock Charts). In the same year the band scooped Best New Band at the Meteor Music Awards, performed to 40,000 people at Sonicmania in Japan, toured and performed with many international acts including Muse, The Strokes and Biffy Clyro.

Lineup

The line up on the debut album was Joey Wilson (vocals/guitar), Bryan McMahon (drummer) and bassist Anton Hegarty. Lead guitarist Karl Hussey joined the band in late 2003 for the band's first UK headline tour, followed by a tour of Japan.

ound

FKOS debut album contained a very guitar-based sound, with a heavy tone on many of the songs, such as the first single 'Face I Know'. The mood ranged from angst ('A Place for Everything') to melancholy ('Simple Fact').

Reviews of Nervousystem.

*“Having mastered the ability to sound as convincing playing it soft as heavy… the quartet keep your attention throughout - the hooks are great, the choruses are often beautiful and the eight-minute-plus 'Syndicate' shows just how far they're willing to venture. In another year of many forgettable rock records, this is one that deserves to be remembered” RTE.IE

*“A confident collection of edgy pop-metal tunes that align FKOS alongside such grown up acts as Foo Fighters and Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club. The addition of guitarist Karl Hussey…has not so much beefed up the sound as created more space to balance the metallic with the melodic”. THE IRISH TIMES

*“A joyous collection of indie anthems and ethereal rockers, Nervousytem witnesses the band confidently finding their voice as songwriters. With shimmering guitars and chiming keyboards, an insanely addictive hook is never far away” THE METRO
