John Stephenson (cricketer, born 1903)

John Stewart Stephenson was a first class cricketer who played 19 matches for Oxford University and 16 for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1923 and 1926.

He was born on November 10, 1903 in Brough, Yorkshire and died on October 7, 1975 in Horsham, Sussex. His brother, Robert Stephenson, played 3 first class matches for the Royal Navy.

A right hand batsman, he scored 949 runs in his 35 first class matches, with a best of 72 against HDG Leveson-Gower's XI. He took 21 catches in the field. He took 11 wickets with his right arm medium pace, with a best of 3 for 44 against Gloucestershire CCC, at an average of 47.36.
